The Secret Garden
“The Secret Garden” is inspired by the Hodgson Burnett’s novel by the same name. It is a tribute to nature, its language, its magical enchantment. In the garden, the flitting dragonflies, associated with Psyche and the symbol of intelligence, beckon us to metaphysical meditation. The small jewel insects inspire us to reflect on the magic hidden even in a natural microcosm like a garden.
Table from the late 1940s. The top covered with floral prints and finished with epoxy resin. Black lacquered trim decorated with small crystal and rhinestone jewels allude to the classic decorations of the past. Dragonflies, salamanders, frogs and ladybugs alight on the edge and the carved legs resembling tree trunks. The wood has been restored to its natural state and is embellished with rows of tiny black beads underscoring its sinuous lines.
